This would seem to be a bug in 2.8.1. 2.7.x uses the COMPILER_PATH
environment variable from DJGPP.ENV to find the assembler, linker, etc, and
that should only have $DJDIR/bin.

Somebody who has 2.8.1 will have to investigate why this takes place. Until
then, avoid the names `cpp', `cc1*', `as', `ld', and `stubify'.

That also would seem to be a bug. Is it possible your specs file is somehow
broken? I believe GCC 2.8.x uses a builtin (and usually wrong) specs when it
can't find the real one.
