you are probably right, both. My problem was that after installing allegro
wip (latest on ure web) ex28.c didn't make a sound on my sounblaster awe 64
(which otherways works perfectly in all djgpp/allegro programs), so after
ex28.c didn't work i installed allegro 3.0 and it worked again and i thought
"hey thats a bug", stupid me ;-)
