Please post the exact command line you used to invoke GZip.  Also,
please check the DPMI memory settings of your DOS box and tell what
are they set to.

Do you have other DJGPP programs installed on that machine?  If so, do
they work or do they also crash?

If you don't have other DJGPP programs, please download the file
v2/djdev201.zip from the same place you got GZip, extract the program
go32-v2.exe from this zip file, and run it without arguments; then
post what did it print.
