No, you should not, but there is a piece of misdocumentation that comes from
GCC 2.8.0 which erroneously says you should.

They are correct.

In your case, I think the problem is that you have not set your environment
variables right. See README.1ST to find out how, and if that doesn't work,
post the output of `SET' and your AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files, or get
DJVERIFY.
