Subject: Help:Memory Allocation

What is the difference between malloc and __dpmi_allocate_linear_memory?

Am I correct to say that malloc allocates memory that is an offset from
the _my_ds() whereas __dpmi_allocate_linear_memory allocates memory that
can reside in any part of the physical memory?

If I use __dpmi_allocate_linear_memory, then how do I free the memory
once I'm done with it?

Which should I use if I only want physical memory, not virtual memory
paged from theswap file?
