Jason,

I've had a bunch of trouble running RHIDE under Windows 95 as
well. Nothing insurmountable, but a number of little nuisances
(one after another, of course) that made it a pain nonetheless.

Anyway, I'm not complaining about RHIDE -- considering it's
price, it's an outstanding value. I'm using DFE 95 myself now,
and it is not without its little quirks, either. But overall, it
does a super job of organizing projects, listing project
dependencies, and providing a FRIENDLY environment in which to
work. As a new programmer, DFE 95 presented me with a much
"cleaner", more intuitive interface to djgpp than did RHIDE.
There are a couple things you may miss about RHIDE:

1. DFE 95's editor does not do Syntax Highlighting, which is one
feature I loved about RHIDE.

2. DFE 95 uses only "gcc", not "gxx". Honestly, I'm not even
sure what that means! It doesn't sound good, but it seems to
work well enough. (The only impact I'm aware of at the moment is
that you must specifically select the libraries you want to
include in linking, e.g., stdcxx, but doing so is an easy task.)

Best Regards,

Scott McPherson
