While browsing through the DJGPP `zip' archives I encountered
a prehistorical version (gpc-1.1.2, corresponding to gcc-2.6.3)
of the GNU Pascal Compiler (GPC). In `readme.1st' it is
mentioned as "gpt112b - GNU Pascal with Turbo Pascal Extensions"
which is somehow misleading since the official version gpc-2.0
supports more Turbo Pascal extensions than gpt-1.1.2.
Furthermore, the description in `gp[ct]112b.txt'
GPC, the GNU Pascal Compiler, version 1.1. It conforms to the ISO7185
(unextended) and ISO10206 (extended) Pascal language definition. [...]
is incorrect since even current versions of GPC are not (yet;-)
fully compliant to ISO-10206.
I recommend to remove `gpc112' and `gpt112' from the distribution
or at least mention in `readme.1st' that those are old versions
obsoleted by gpc-2.0.
OTOH, I could also provide an alpha version of GPC (with yet even
more Turbo Pascal - and other - extensions;-) in the near future.
What is the naming convention for such a thing and where can I
upload it?
Greetings,
Peter
