You need to manually set it in the extra compiler options.  However,
according to what I've just read, -m486 may actually slow code down on
Pentium machines.

Check the RHIDE docs for this; in earlier versions all you had to do was
type "rhide rhide" from the djgpp bin directory, and set whatever global
configuration you desired.  These options would then be used
automatically when RHIDE starts up.  Once you've created a specific
project, on the other hand, any changes you make will affect that
project only.

I don't have much experience with the latest RHIDE, so definitely look
at the docs and the FAQ.
