Definitely.  Almost everything worthwhile these days is being
developed in C++ (though not necessarily for the DOS platform).  IMHO,
the rest of the worthwhile stuff is done in perl. =)  Soon, I suspect
that we'll start seeing some cool Java apps, and Java is based heavily
on C++...

C++ first, then Java, then (if he's working on a UNIX platform) perl.

Sure.

Windows?  Yeah, it's popular (unfortunately), but most windows
programming is AFAIK done in C++.  Micro$oft's MFC package has pretty
much guaranteed that.
