Both styles of slashes are supported by DJGPP, in both DOS and
Windows.  The cause of your problem is something else (e.g., if you
have edited your DJGPP.ENV without understanding all its
intricacies).

I suggest that you reset the setting to backslashes and try to find
out the *real* reason for the problem, because it still lurks out
there and might bite you some day.
