I don't think this is a good idea.  GCC can work very well without
$DJGPP if its built-in default directories are correct for the system
where it runs.  The message you suggest would indicate that this setup
is somehow wrong.  I think people should continue to be able to
compile GCC with the pathnames of their liking and run the produced
binaries with no error messages.
