I have to wonder about this thread... I have Perl'ed 12 Meg files, and
as many as 300 50k files in one run, and have NEVER experienced any
problems with the binary in the DJGPP distribution.

Since DOS only does one thing at a time, who cares how the memory get's
used, as long as it's not corrupted?  This is a 32-bit dos app, users
are not likely to be running boxes with 1 Meg of ram.

If you have a real need to multitask, say if your box is a server, then
you have no business running a lame OS anyway...  and Perl works just
dandy under Linux.

I often suspect that the problems people report in this newsgroup are
problems with win95 dos boxes.  Perhaps these people should try PerlNT??

I maintain a DJGPP binary of VIM5, and 99% of the problems reported to
me are from win95 users.  I refer them to the vimnt binary, and the
problems vanish.  Imagine that.

I expect to either get flamed on this, or ignored completely...
