If you need Unix portability, use Curses (there's a DJGPP port in 
v2tk/pdc22b.zip file).

If you don't care about portability, use the conio functions (look them 
up in the <conio.h> header, then read their description in the library 
reference.  You have gotoxy(), insline(), getch() etc.
