The only guarantee I've heard is that the Haifa scheduler will confure the
hell out of
gdb.  I have seen very promising benchmarks though for haifa vs non-haifa on
the
hp-pa chips and on x86.  Haifa support may have to be removed from egcs
because
of copyright problems is the latest I've heard though.
