Hm-m-m.  Maybe PC GEOS (BTW, I used the C64 version for a long time)
is looking for the MSDOS boot files, IO.SYS and/or MSDOS.SYS
(IBMBIO.SYS and IBMDOS.SYS on IBM systems)?  That could explain the
difference in which systems run it and which do not.  I thought,
though, that a Win95 install deleted those files?  Maybe not?

It just occurred to me that what you see as "DOS" loaded is probably
COMMAND.COM, plus maybe the drivers and such from MSDOS.SYS.  I
believe that "SYSTEM" is the Win95 version of this.  If you still see
"DOS" loaded on a Win95 system, I recommend you go to a good Win95
forum and ask there why you see that difference between the DOS
converted systems and the never-was-DOS systems.  That may well give
you the clue you need to solve the problem.

BTW, do you do the mem /c from a DOS box on W95, or from a "pure DOS"
(don't start Win95) boot?  Is there a difference in mem /c output
between the two?
