Hello,
I recently downloaded the source file for gcc 2.7.2, I am trying to compile
the official release source code with the official release gcc, note that
I have made no changes at all to either the official gcc.exe or the source
code. I tried running 'configur.bat go32' and that seems to do something,
I do get a makefile, but when I run it, I get numerous filename errors,
and after spending hours going through the makefile shortening file names,
and re-inserting tabs, and renaming files in the dir,
I finally got down to the spot in the makefile where
it is trying to compile stmt.c a few seconds after this starts, I get
numerous errors from a file called bc-typecd.def and stmt.c looking at the file,
nearly all the errors are referring to comment lines that perform no
function in the file (as far as I know anyway). So I have come to the
conclusion that either I haven't configured something right, or there is
something wrong with gcc v2 (I have been using this same compiler for
other programs, works fine..). My question is, shouldn't I be able to
re-compile gcc with itself with no changes to the source? (just pkunzip -d
gcc272s.zip). Would someone mind posting what exactly I should do to get
this to work, I have read the faqs on this compiler and unless I missed
somthing, I didn't see any explicit instructions on how to do this. My
system is a pentium 100Mhz running windows95 & dos ( I can select either
windows95 or real dos when I boot up, I tried both operating systems),
also I have all the development tools for gcc. Any help will be greatly
appreciated.
                                    Thanks!
