Get readme.1st from www.delorie.com and all neccessary and optional files
are listed along with installation and get started usage instructions.

Yes and yes.

The linker (ld) takes care of producing a .exe file.  The compiler driver
(gcc) can be used to drive both compile and link phases in the UNIX style.
