Subject: NETPGM package for PC/MSDOS (+ djgpp/gcc)

This is to infom you that I finally succeeded in compiling with
DJGPP/GCC all executables and
libraries of the netpbm-1mar1994.tar as found in the various mirrors.

Due to the difficulty of running "stamp-date", the Makefile of the
"netpbm"
directory does not work. Conversely, a Makefile.dj has been provided in
each subdirectories, namely

pbm, pbm, pnm, ppm and libtiff

All *.a and *.exe for the DJGPP environment (version 2) are included.

Some *.h, especially pbmplus.h have been modified to meet DJGPP's
definitions.
This can be checked looking at file dates.

Some long names like "pgmtoaspecialfeature.c" have been renamed to
"pgm2aspecialfeature.c" (also in referencing sources and Makefile's) to
remove ambiguities with MSDOS 8.3 naming convensions.

This zip file is available at:

ftp://ftp.lps.u-psud.fr/pub/pc/utils/netpbmdj.zip

NOTES:
  1. Compilation is OK, but I did not check the results of the various
executables
  2. Execution on MSDOS is OK in Window's MSDOS windows, or if you have
CWSDPMI.EXE
in your path (enable 32bit execution)
  3. The above zip is big, but you can transfer smaller ZIPs:
     ftp://ftp.lps.u-psud.fr/pub/pc/utils/pbmdj-ex.zip (executables)
     ftp://ftp.lps.u-psud.fr/pub/pc/utils/pbmdj-sc.zip (sources fit
for DJGPP/GCC)
     ftp://ftp.lps.u-psud.fr/pub/pc/utils/pbmdj-lb.zip (the *.a
compiled files)
     ftp://ftp.lps.u-psud.fr/pub/pc/utils/pbmdj-mn.zip (*.1, *.2, *.5
manual files, unchanged)

==============================================================================

Besides, in the same directory, you will find several ready-to-use
executables to convert
pbm, pgm, ppm and pnm images files (these are numeric representations of
images, directly editable with
EDIT.EXE, MicroEMACS, or easy to generate with Fortran or C programs) to
image formats: TIFF, PCX, BMP, GIF.

The structure of pbm, pgm, ppm and pnm images files is given in

ftp://ftp.lps.u-psud.fr/pub/pc/utils/pbm-fmts.hlp
