For me, directX is a nice middle ground for graphics libraries. It
allows me to get alittle bit into the nitty-gritty to improve speed and
it also lets me get well above actually interfacing directly with the
cards. Dont get me wrong though, I love ALLEGRO!! It is the best thing
that has happened to me regarding DOS graphics programming.
