Does djtar works on this file without the -x option (i.e. can it list the 
archive contents)?  If so, please post the listing that it generates.

I think a patch was posted to this news group a few months ago.  You 
might try searching the mail archives or look at the bug-tracking page 
of DJ Delorie's server (http://www.delorie.com/djgpp/bugs/).

Also, a crash traceback printed when you abort it with Ctrl-Break would 
be nice.

Btw, the sources of djtar are available and it's quite a simple program, 
so it shouldn't be too hard to hunt this one down.
