I am trying to compile the djgpp sources using the djgpp binary
installation. While the instructions are vast, I don't seem to
be getting it right. If someone has successfully compiled the
sources on a windows NT machine, I would like to know how it was
done. Specfically, I need to know the following:

1. Which make program do I use? In accordance with the
instructions, if I do not have a unix-like shell, I should use
NMake which came with Visual C/C++ V8.00! To my knowledge, the
lastest MSVC version is 5 . . . If I do have a unix-like shell,
which I do (MKS, specifically), it says to use the configure
script in a "normal" fashion, but with which make -- MKS's
or gnu's? BTW, I've tried both . . . neither seem to work.

I would prefer to operate under the first scenario (no unix-
like shell), but it seems that the configuration step (configur
winnt i386 or configur go32) generates a rather unix-like
makefile, which neither gnumake, Nmake (from version 4.2 of MSVC)
or MKS's make like.

2. Which configur options should I use, winnt or go32? I am
operating from a DOS window inside Windows NT 4.0.

3. If I do have to go with the later scenario (unix-like shell),
which target/build/host architecture should I specify?
i586-*-winnt3.5 would be the closest to my set-up, but configur
doesn't recognize it . . .

Also, do I need to set up default directories similar to
how things would be built on a unix box? I know that I can
specify directories to search, etc. from the configur utility,
but it just doesn't seem to work right on my machine.

Any and all advice greatly appreciated!!

BTW, the platform I'm using is as follows:

Micron Millennia Pro2 Dual Pentium Pro 200 MHz
Windows NT 4.0 w/ Service Pack 2 installed
Relevant Software:

	MSVC V4.2 Enterprise Edition
	MKS Tools
	djgpp V2.7.2.1
	gnu make V3.75

Thanks in advance!
