I've never used it myself, but I believe UMSDOS is a Linux filesystem
designed to be used on an MSDOS partition; that is, it gives you Linux
filesystem functionality (though I don't know how much) without requiring
you to set up another partition.

It has nothing to do with dosemu, though, which is invariably what the
original poster was talking about.
