Thank you for the response, about my DJGPP/Allegro question.
I am baffled about what made the difference -- I'm using all the latest
versions, have make installed, have C++ installed, have paths and
variables correct -- But I had unzipped (with the -d flag even!)
into my main DJGPP directory -- I reinstalled it into 
CONTRIB\ALLEGRO underneathe the DJGPP root, and it's currently compiling
without a single flaw. <shrug>

I couldn't have done it without you'all!
