What you are saying is a little unclear to me! Call me stupid, but:

  1) DirectX is Windows stuff! It is for Windows Apps!
  2) Allegro is ported ONLY to DOS and soon to Linux, but not Windows!

So, how the hell are you going to use DirectX from the DOS application???
Or, maybe you will port Allegro to Windows yourself?
