I compiled and ran your program with no warnings, errors, or crashes.  I don't
know if the bar is the precise one you intended, but a bar printed just fine on
my printer.

I am using DJGPP 2.01, which may be where your problem is.  Version 2.01 is a
significant improvement over 2.0 and fixes many problems.
