thank you very much for your support and encouragement. i plan to involve
my class in writing up a cross referenced info format file -- an
opportunity to learn simple hypertext would be too good to pass. we have
been discussing a format for the entries and the following seems to be an
initial list: 

1.  entry definitions
2.  usage syntax (wherever relevant, with simplest of options)
3.  pointer to discussion in faq
4.  further reading list (tutorials preferred)
5.  contributor

contributors need not stick to this format and would be encouraged to 
send free form write ups (short of course). dj: how do we coordinate this?
