Thank you very much for your reply, however, I'm afraid it doesn't help
me.
Normally, when my program crashes, the first thing I do is run symify.
However, It crashed with a message similar to this.

Page fault at eip: <some number> <standard register and flag dump>
<register dump cont                                           >   ERROR
0004

This is it!  No traceback, nothing!  Don't feel morally compelled to
reply
to this, because my program mysteriously works now, but I'm still
curious.
