In general, DJGPP produces code that is both faster and smaller than
with any other 32-bit compiler, minus the overhead of the startup code. 
The FAQ (v2/faq210b.zip from SimTel) has a lot of information about this
in the beginning chapters.

Sorry, I can't help you with the other thing though.  :)
