To pass parameters from protected mode to real mode (and vice-versa), you must
use some area of conventional memory as the go-between.  Look in the FAQ under
section 18.2 (How to use buffers with DOS/BIOS services), and look for the
transfer buffer.  It's aliased as "__tb".
