well true, but then allegro already provides quite adequate support for these
sort of devices :)

erm. i thought the monopoly was with those dreaded gravis ultrasound things.
well anyway point taken. nothing pissed me off more than being told by my
application that it wasn't going to run because my sound card wasn't good
enough and i should go buy a decent soundcard.

indeedly so. hence having access to some of these goodies from dos would be
kinda nice. ideally i'd like to see dos with at least most of the capabilities
of windows because i find such os's restrictive and non-intuitive.
