I can completely build a c++ program consisting entirely of classes that
I have created, so I know that gcc works. It's when I try to use the
libgpp classes or STL that I have the problems. I'm sure I'm not using
them correctly, but I can't find anything to tell me what the 'correct'
usage of the libraries is.

Thanks for this very good suggestion.

Actually, this group is refreshingly free of hot air (aka flames) - nice!
Thanks very much again.
