It depends. What do you mean by 'pentium optimised code' ?
If you are using pentium instructions then they will not work on lower
processors (ie. if you optimise your 3D program with some MMX
instructions then your program will not work on a pentium without MMX!)
If you order your instructions to take advantage of the multiple pipes
in a pentium then it will run on a lower processor.
