ripped off as in it was an illegal copy? or did crack dot com release it? 

if it's a legal release, where can i get it? i would like to build
Linux X Quake under other UNIX systems (I think the graphics should be
alright, the only part needing work should be the sound). But I'll never
know without the source..

in particular, i've always wanted to run Quake on a Silicon Graphics
workstation  <heavy drooling>.
