BTW: -O2 is the same as -O. If you really want full optimization
use -O3 (which I not prefer).

Sometimes I have seen such an error. The solution was in most cases
heuristic. Sometimes I got this error when running under raw DOS with
cwsdpmi and when I did the same in W95 there error was not and
sometimes in the other direction (error under W95, no error under
raw DOS) and somtimes it is an solution to compile without -O.

But as far as I remember these errors occoured only with gcc 2.7.0.
