I would expect that it is because of a strange nuance imposed on pcx
files by Zsoft.  The bytes-per-line *must* be an even number, so images
will sometimes be "padded" on the right side to force the image to be an
even width.

I've got some working pcx source on my web page if you want to use it
(either just to use it, or to compare to the source you posted and fix
the problem).  It works for images of any size, and loads both
correctly-saved images and incorrectly-saved images.
