check out http://www.netlib.org/benchmark/index.html, especially
http://www.netlib.org/benchmark/linpack-pc.c

it would be nice to compare the results given there for watcom compiled
version on p100 with djgpp's performance. however, it should probably be
done by someone who knows both watcom and djgpp optimization options so
that comparable results can be achieved.

in general, NetLib is a great place to look at numerical stuff.
