I'm not sure if this is what you're saying, but whenever I've used
djtar, it always prompts me when a duplicate file will be created and
lets me rename it.  Also, to redirect stderr under DJGPP you need to use
the 'redir' program, documented in the FAQ, because COMMAND.COM is too
stupid to redirect stderr by itself.  :)
