I hate to admit this, but at present there is no such flag, or at least
nothing that is externally visible. If you really need it, this would be
easy to hack into sound.c, with the same loop that stop_sample() uses to
detect whether the sound is still active. 

It's a silly oversight on my part. Sorry :-) But, I've been talking with
Tero Parvinen about some extensions to the sound API, and if his ideas
ever become a reality (ie. if he does the work of coding them for me :-)
it will be easy to detect this. So you can probably expect to see an
is_sound_playing() function in a future release...
