Don't guess (your guess is wrong, btw), look it up in the docs.  The DJGPP
FAQ list (available as v2/faq202b.zip from the same place you get DJGPP)
explains the reasons for this apparent bloat and the ways to make it
smaller in section 8.15 (for starters, add -s to the gcc command line and
observe the program size being slashed considerably; but the FAQ has more
to tell).
