well, the software can try to renegotiate w/o disconnect. I'm assuming the networking just
saw this as extreme amounts of line noise...
though the networking is definately software, and the best I've gotten in
netscape/Win31 is about 1.9 K/sec, whereas Linux I've had the total run around 3 K/s (had
netscape running 2 ftp transfers plus a DCC)
