The log files indicate that you are set up properly.  The only thing
left to consider is that you are using an old distribution of the
binutils.  Make sure you have 'v2gnu/bnu27b.zip', NOT
'v2gnu/bnu252b.zip'.  Programs from v2.00 are not 100% upwards
compatible with v2.01, particularly where long filenames are concerned. 
I imagine this is going into the next release of the FAQ.  ;)
