i have tried anything from pdcurses to sword. except for the now famous
line in bank.s in allegro, i have not encountered a library that failed
to compile simply by typing make, so i don't think that the header files
are buggy.

by all means do so. however, i should point out that the documentation
and sample programs that come with these libraries are adequate to get
you started. obviuosly there are some spelling mistakes and the
vocabulary used by the authors sometimes depends on their native
language but not so much to make anything incomprehesible.

i haven't used tvision. however, i can say that i like sword very much.
it doesn't come with a comprehensive manual but it has sample programs
for almost everything. on the other hand, if you would like a text based
interface, then jptui is pretty good, too.
