How much disk space do you have free?  Try freeing some disk space and then 
compile again.  I remember getting the very same error message when I'd set 
my TMPDIR to a RAMDrive which was only 512K in size.  When I changed TMPDIR 
to my hard drive (which had 200M free at the time) it compiled without any 
problem.
