Well, here's my two cents worth...

Allegro is Shawn's.  While he lets you do what you want with it, I take
it as a 'professional courtesy', if you will, to leave his work alone. 
Sure, I'm writing functions that build on it, even 'fixed' versions of
some of his functions - but they are in a separate package, not Allegro. 
If he wishes to put my functions in, that's up to him.  If you like
Allegro so much, and think it's worth that much, then instead of guessing
just write him a letter.
Yes, REAL PAPER.  It does still exist (gasp???).
Anyways, I thought I saw a post saying he'll be back soon, so he'll be
able to solve this himself.
