The real reason for buying QNX is that it is REAL TIME. Real REAL TIME, with 
deterministic response times and all that (I think that's the correct 
phrase). I used to work for a company that sold a PLC simulator that ran on 
QNX. It had real time simulated I/O and everything. 

BTW, it _IS_ very expensive, and the base package doesn't even come with 
much more than a shell and a few utils. X, Compiler's etc, are extra.

Anyway, this is definately getting off-topic!
