Subject: Newbie RHIDE woes.....
To: <djgpp AT delorie DOT com>

Hello everyone....

I am new to both DJGPP and the C programming language....

I am having some problems getting RHIDE to work on my system. I have
a generic 386DX computer with 4MB RAM, a 200MB Hard drive and Trident
8900C Super-Vga card with an SVGA monitor.

My first problem with RHIDE is that it will not start in a Windows 3.1
DOS box. I have followed the DJGPP FAQ's suggestions about DPMI memory
to no avail. RHIDE simple displays its opening message and freezes
completly (mouse cursor and all). Half the time I can't even press
CONTROL-ALT-DELETE to reboot the machine.

So, I tried CSWDPMI (?) from PC-DOS 6.3 (windows not running) and it
seems to work fine with an exception. Sometimes I get kicked out to DOS
whenever I choose the help section. Also, if a line I am entering in the
editor is more than around 40 characters in length, whenever I press a key,
garbage appears on that line for part of a second. RHIDE seems to work
fine but I find this extermly annoying and distracting.

What am I doing wrong?

Is this a reported bug in RHIDE?
Is there a bug fix?
Is version 1.0 out yet?

Thanks in advance, Bruce.
