No, actually it is somewhat faster in most situations on most
computers.  Look in the djgpp Frequently Asked Questions list
(v2/faq201b.zip from your friendly SimTel mirror), section 7,  for
possible causes of slow compilation.  There is too much information to
list here.  :)
