well this is usenet, and it doesn't go into my mailbox.  it's a mailing list 
for you because someone decided (DJ I think) put up a mail gateway, but it's 
still a newsgroup, and FAQ's are posted to newsgroups.  as it is, i killfile 
all no-subject threads because they're almost invariably someone sending list 
commands to the newsgroup.

If the list server for the mail gateway could be modified to drop messages 
with a header of "X-No-Mail" or something similar, then the FAQ could easily 
be posted with that extra header.  Subscribers could get the FAQ with a 
command of "send FAQ".
