What did you expect?  You just use `redir' incorrectly.  The correct 
command line to achieve what you want (as far as I understand it) is 
this:

	redir -o tempfile -eo make -?

Which says: redirect stdout to tempfile, then redirect stderr to where 
stdout is redirected, then spawn `make -?'.  Does this run for you?
