GDB distribution can be used to build a debugging library, which can then
be linked into an application (a front end).  That's the way RHIDE uses to
let you debug from within the IDE.  You should in principle be able to do
the same in DOS Emacs, but I suspect that some non-trivial changes should
be made in the ELisp code that supports debugging from within Emacs,
because it was written assuming async processes.
